Why We Built This Site
Jefferson County court information is spread across separate custodians. A docket sheet records filings, parties, events, and settings for one case, but the keeper changes with the court. The Jefferson County Circuit Clerk handles Circuit Court civil and criminal files. Chancery records, including family, estate, guardianship, land, and equity matters, belong with the Chancery Clerk. Justice Court and Fayette Municipal Court maintain their own lower-court records.
Mississippi's court-access framework also has an important boundary. The Mississippi Legislature's code-access entry point covers the Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983, Miss. Code Ann. ยงยง 25-61-1 et seq. The MEC privacy policy explains that the judiciary is a separate branch and that court records can be governed by specific law or court rule. PAMEC is the public-facing side of MEC for participating courts rather than a universal state index. The result is a practical routing problem that calls for the right court, clerk, or official electronic service.
What You Will Find Here
The reference pages are organized around the task and the official record keeper:
- Docket explanations: local context for Criminal Court Dockets and Civil Court Dockets
- Settings: ways to use the Court Schedule information and verify a hearing with the court that set it
- Case location: the Docket Search paths for PAMEC, a known case number, or a clerk-held record
- Documents and copies: the Court Case Records routes for inspection, plain copies, or a certified document
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, not a Mississippi court, clerk, or government office. Its limits are straightforward:
- We cannot pull an official docket sheet or case file for anyone
- We cannot change, reschedule, or reset a court date or hearing setting
- We cannot remove, seal, or amend a case on any docket
- We cannot issue certified copies of any docket, order, or court document
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot promise that a phone number, fee, portal result, or setting is current at the moment you view it
Only the court or clerk that maintains the file can issue an official or certified docket sheet, order, or court record. The originating office remains the source to verify.
Search Partners
Some pages include a search box supplied by a third party. That provider controls its service, results, and charges. A paid signup may generate a referral fee for this private site. The arrangement does not make the provider an official Jefferson County or Mississippi court-record source, and it does not change the need to verify information with the record keeper.
